A PowerPoint and Activity designed to help students explore the story of 'Of Mice and Men' and what various characters say. These resources can be used by a variety of different age and ability groups, and would be excellent for students in KS3 who are learning the text as part of the new specifications for KS3 and 4.

The attached cryptograms cover the subject of Christmas from different angles. The first looks at 'The Festive Season around the World'; the second looks at 'Being Homeless or Lonely at Christmas'. They are a great way to prompt student thinking about the not-so-often thought of elements of the season. Answers are also included.

A PowerPoint to explain and demonstrate how writing triplets can be used to identify the purpose of any type of writing. Used with students to introduce the idea and give them an understanding of how they can use them in their writing. Easily adaptable and, in my experience, a great way of getting the purposes to ‘stick’ in students’ memories.

This is one way of helping students understand how to plan and draft their work and ideas on presenting a speech. The speech train provides a visual representation of their speech - showing how each section should be linked and how important it is to have a direction and destination for your speech. I enlarged this to A3 before getting the students using it, then it's spacious enough for lots of ideas!

A practice exam question for any students undertaking an unseen poem. This particular activity focusses on the poem Island Man by Grace Nichols, and asks the students to complete a planning grid, helping them to focus and note down their ideas. ***The poem is the property of Grace Nichols***
